A business unit ofÂ Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has receivedÂ a $92.8 million contract modification to performÂ engineering and interim logistics work onÂ aÂ military communications satellite system for theÂ U.S. Navy.
Lockheed Martin Space Systems will also deliverÂ spares and associated materials for the military branch’sÂ Mobile User Objective SystemÂ under the modification, the Defense Department said Thursday.
Work will occurÂ inÂ Scottsdale, Arizona and in Sunnyvale, California through November 2018.
The Navy will incrementally finance the modification with itsÂ procurement, operations, maintenance, research, development, test and evaluation funds.
MUOS is designed to supportÂ communication amongÂ multi-service users worldwideÂ and operate withÂ legacy satcom terminals.
