A business unit of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has received a $92.8 million contract modification to perform engineering and interim logistics work on a military communications satellite system for the U.S. Navy.
Lockheed Martin Space Systems will also deliver spares and associated materials for the military branch’s Mobile User Objective System under the modification, the Defense Department said Thursday.
Work will occur in Scottsdale, Arizona and in Sunnyvale, California through November 2018.
The Navy will incrementally finance the modification with its procurement, operations, maintenance, research, development, test and evaluation funds.
MUOS is designed to support communication among multi-service users worldwide and operate with legacy satcom terminals.
