Boeing to Provide Navy More F/A-18 Spare Parts Under $197M Delivery Order

Boeing F-18 Super HornetThe Defense Logistics Agency has awarded Boeing (NYSE: BA) a $196.7 million delivery order to supply the U.S. Navy with additional F/A-18 Hornet spare parts.

The Defense Department said Monday it expects Boeing to fulfill the order by Dec. 30, 2019 and the purchase will be financed with the Navy’s working capital funds in fiscal year 2017 through fiscal 2019.

Boeing designed the Hornet aircraft to function in a fighter mode during fleet air defense missions or in an attack mode during force projection, interdiction and close and deep air support operations.

DLA also ordered $984.3 million worth of the company’s F/A-18 spare parts for the Navy in August.

The delivery orders fall under a potential 10-year, sole-source acquisition contract.
