Boeing, NASA to Hold Qualification Tests on SLS Insulation System


Space Launch SystemTYSONS CORNER, VA, Sept. 7, 2016 — Boeing (NYSE: BA) will work with NASA to test a new insulation system that will be used to protect the Space Launch System during its Mars exploration missions, Executive Gov reported Tuesday.

The space agency said Saturday the qualification tests will focus on three types of cryogenic foam that make up the insulation system for the SLS core stage and launch vehicle stage adapter.
