Huntington Ingalls HIIThe U.S. Navy has awarded Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) a $102.1 million contract modification to provide integrated planning yard services for CG 47-class cruisers and DD 963-class destroyers.

The Defense Department said Monday the modification exercises an option on a previously awarded contract and covers engineering, technical, planning, ship configuration, data, logistics and lifetime maintenance and modernization support services.

Huntington Ingalls will perform work in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and is scheduled to finish in September 2017.

The Naval Sea Systems Command obligated $945 at the time of award of the modification from the military branch’s  fiscal 2016 operations and maintenance funds.

Many guided missile cruisers of the Navy’s Ticonderoga class will undergo modernization as the service branch aims to ensure the fleet reaches a 35-year service life.
