Lockheed’s F-35 Performs 1st Air-to-Air Kill Test Against Drone


F35TYSONS CORNER, VA, Aug. 3, 2016 — Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and the U.S. Air Force have concluded the first live air-to-air kill test of the company’s F-35 fighter jet against a drone over a military test range near California, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

The F-35 Joint Program Office said Monday the F-35 fired an AIM-9X missile toward a drone and used mission system sensors to track the target and communicate target information to the missile.
