Mary Ann Hopkins, formerly Parsons federal group president, will join global design and consultancy firm Arcadis to lead that company’s business in North America and Latin America as well as the global water and environment lines.

Arcadis said Thursday Hopkins will assume her new role on Sept. 26 and the company’s supervisory board will also propose her appointment as an executive board member at the annual shareholder’s meeting on April 26, 2017.

GovCon Wire reported Wednesday that Parsons appointed Vice Chairman Thomas Roell as interim president of its federal business unit.

“Mary Ann’s experience, market knowledge, leadership skills and relationships make her an ideal appointment, ” said Niek Hoek, Arcadis supervisory board chairman.

“She will be a great fit to work with the regional leadership teams, as well as build out our global strategy for the water and environment businesses, ” added Arcadis CEO Neil McArthur.

Arcadis is a design, consultancy, engineering and project management service provider based in the Netherlands that also operates in the buildings and infrastructure business lines.

Hopkins will succeed Zack Smith, who has retired from the company in 2015.

She has held various roles in project execution, business development and general management at Parsons, which she joined in 1989.

In her previous role, Hopkins led the worldwide operations of Parsons’ U.S. government business and helped develop strategies in the infrastructure, environmental, security, defense and energy markets.
