TYSONS CORNER, VA, July 1, 2016 — Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) has tapped Securus Technologies to market the former’s Cell Defender technology to state, county and local correctional facilities under an exclusive distribution agreement, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
Securus said Wednesday it will also install, operate and maintain Cell Defender, which works to block contraband devices such as cellular phones in U.S. prisons.
“A cellphone may be the most dangerous form of contraband an inmate can possess, providing a means to coordinate criminal activity from behind bars, ” noted Ed Zoiss, president of Harris’ electronic systems business.
