Navy Selects BAE For $53M USS Russell Update, Maintenance Contract


BAE Systems has secured a $53.4 million contract from the U.S. Navy to plan and execute depot-level maintenance and modifications on the USS Russell (DDG 59) destroyer.

The Defense Department said Monday the fiscal 2016 selected restricted availability work will be performed at BAE’s San Diego shipyard through February 2017.

The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center obligated $21.4 million and $487, 582 at the time of the award from the service branch’s fiscal 2016 operation and maintenance funds and “other” procurement funds, respectively.

The USS Russell guided missile destroyer is homeported in San Diego and has been deployed across the Arabian Gulf, Indian Ocean and Western Pacific.
