Iridium to Provide New Broadband Satcom Service in Q2 2017; Matt Desch Comments

TYSONS CORNER, VA, June 13, 2016 — Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM) will launch the Certus satellite communications service to the government and commercial markets in the second quarter of 2017, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

The Iridium NEXT-powered offering will work to provide broadband services with connection speeds of up to 1.4 megabits per second via the L-band spectrum, the company said Tuesday.

Iridium CEO Matt Desch said the Certus service targets customers in the maritime, land mobile, aeronautical and government sectors.
