Harris’ $1.7B Radio Systems FMS Contract Takes Effect

ManpackRadioA $1.7 billion contract between the U.S. Army and Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) for the supply of company-built tactical radios to Afghanistan took effect Wednesday.

The Defense Department said Wednesday it “inadvertently” announced the service branch’s award of the foreign military sales contract to Harris on June 16.

The contract will run through June 15, 2021, and covers a suite of radio systems,  ancillaries, spare parts and support services.

Harris was awarded a $405.5 million contract by the Army last month to produce single-channel ground and airborne radios for Morocco under the FMS program.
