Chris Deegan Promoted to CEO at Maritime Engineering Contractor Gibbs & Cox


Gibbs & Cox (GCW)Maritime engineering and design company Gibbs & Cox has appointed Chris Deegan, former vice president of the company’s engineering group, to the roles of president and CEO.

The Arlington, Virginia-based contractor said Tuesday Deegan will succeed Rick Biben, who will continue to serve on G&C’s board of directors.

“Chris has delivered exceptional results in every job associated with maritime engineering and program management, ” said G&C Chairman Ned Daffan.

“Rick brought diverse, top-level corporate executive expertise to G&C just as we embarked on a major growth initiative, ” Daffan added.

Deegan joined G&C in 2013 after a 28-year career in the U.S. Navy that included leadership roles over nuclear submarine, ship and combat systems programs.

His most recent assignment in the service branch was as a member of the Senior Executive Service to support the Naval Sea Systems Command and the Navy’s program executive office for integrated warfare systems.

Biben led G&C through its acquisition of marine craft maker Donald L. Blount and Associates in 2015, as well as G&C’s expansion efforts in the government services sector that included contract awards to support Navy programs.

He has worked at companies such as Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC), CSRA (NYSE: CSRA), General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) Anteon company and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC).
