Niels Jensen, a former regional vice president at information technology services company ForeScout Technologies, has been promoted to the newly-created position of senior vice president for the U.S. public sector.

ForeScout said Friday it appointed Jensen as part of a strategy to expand its public sector business and he will lead initiatives in market strategy business development, product development and operations.

He previously worked to drive adoption of the company’s CounterACT government security compliance platform by public sector agencies.

Jensen joined Forescout in 2012 after two years at BMC Software , where he served as area director for federal civilian agencies.
