UTC Subsidiary Receives $1B Navy F-35 Propulsion Contract Modification


F35A United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) subsidiary has received a $1.04 billion contract modification to manufacture the ninth batch of F-35 propulsion systems for U.S. and foreign military customers.

Pratt & Whitney will produce parts and components of 28 F135-PW-100 systems for the U.S. Air Force, six F135-PW-600 systems for the U.S. Marine Corps and four F135-PW-100 for the U.S. Navy, the Defense Department said Monday.

The low-rate initial production contract also covers seven F135-PW-100 and seven F135-PW-600 propulsion systems for international partners, 11 F135-PW-100 spares for foreign military sale clients as well as three spares and one trainer propulsion system for the Air Force, DoD added.

The company will build the systems in Connecticut, Indiana and the U.K. through September 2019.
