Seagate, Los Alamos Nat’l Lab Study Energy-Efficient Data Storage for Supercomputing


SeagateTYSONS CORNER, VA, March 23, 2016 — Seagate Technology (Nasdaq: STX) has inked a cooperative research and development agreement with Los Alamos National Laboratory to explore the potential of an energy-efficient storage tier for supercomputers, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

The company said Monday the research effort seeks to develop an alternative to “cold” storage that ensures data stays accessible while power consumption is minimized and to boost the quality of research supported by data.
