John Rood Named Lockheed Martin Int’l Business SVP; Marillyn Hewson Comments


lockheed martinJohn Rood, vice president of government affairs at Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), will transition into new roles as senior vice president of the company’s international business organization and corporate officer by March 7.

He will oversee the organization’s expansion strategies as well as facilitate its government relations, client engagements and industrial partnerships in the international market, Lockheed said Monday.

In 2015,  international sales accounted for 21 percent of Lockheed’s overall revenue and rose 6 percent from the previous year.

Rood will succeed Pat Dewar, who has been named SVP of international strategic initiatives at the aerospace and defense contractor and will retire from the company in August.

“John has more than 25 years of public and private sector experience, with a deep understanding of our business and strong customer relationships, ” said Marillyn Hewson,  Lockheed chairman, president and CEO and an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2016.

Rood joined the company in June 2014 as VP of domestic business development and operations and previously was head of business development at Raytheon (NYSE: RTN).

His government service career includes positions within the Defense Department, Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Council and State Department.
