Exelis to Manufacture Navy Aircraft Electronic Countermeasures for $88M


Exelis logoExelis has received an $88.3 million contract modification to produce and deliver onboard electronic jammer systems for the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18C/D/E/F aircraft.

The Defense Department said Friday the award exercises a contract option for 48 full-rate production Lot 13 of the AN/ALQ-214 integrated defensive electronic countermeasures from Exelis.

The Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) subsidiary will build the systems in New Jersey, New Hampshire, various locations in California and other sites within the U.S. through December 2018.

ALQ-214 combines receivers and countermeasures to create an electronic shield for the U.S. Navy and RAAF F/A-18 fighter aircraft.
