Northrop Grumman to Begin Development of DARPA’s Reconnaissance Drone Demonstrator


northrop Grumman_BLUETYSONS CORNER, VA, December 30, 2015 — Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) will begin construction of an unmanned aircraft system demonstrator platform as part of the $93.1 million contract awarded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Thursday, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

DARPA said Monday the award under phase three of the Tactically Exploited Reconnaissance Node program aims to produce a medium-altitude, long-endurance drone for intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance missions.

“The design we have in mind for the Tern demonstrator could greatly increase the effectiveness of any host ship by augmenting awareness, reach and connectivity, ” said Dan Patt, a program manager at DARPA.
