Navy Awards Austal USA $198M for LCS, Frigate Design Services

Littoral-Combat-ShipAustal‘s U.S.-based subsidiary has received a potential three-year, $198.4 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to carry out Littoral Combat Ship upgrade design services and frigate preliminary design services.

The company said Tuesday the award is part of a $3.5 billion contract with the Navy on the production of 11 LCS vessels.

The modification covers engineering studies, core class studies, technical support and other class services in support of the Navy’s transition from LCS to frigates.

Austal USA will perform work at a manufacturing facility in Alabama with an initial funding amount of $51.7 million.
