Jacobs Eyes Transportation Service Expansion Through JLP Buy; Randy Pierce Comments


infrastructureJacobs Engineering Group (NYSE: JEC) has acquired J.L. Patterson & Associates for an undisclosed sum in a move to expand Jacobs’ presence in the North American railroad design, construction and engineering services market.

Orange, California-based JLP works with public transportation agencies to help them plan and manage rail infrastructure projects, Jacobs said Monday.

“This acquisition means we can now leverage JLP’s customer service model to meet the expanding rail needs of our industrial, oil and gas and mining and minerals clients, ” said Randy Pierce, senior vice president of Jacob’s buildings and infrastructure business.

Jacobs aims to bolster the company’s efforts to support Class 1 transportation systems throughout North America, as well as to bid on upcoming multibillion commuter rail and transit programs.
