The First Responder Network Authority board has approved a final request for proposal for the FirstNet national public-safety broadband network project and instructed the agency to begin the solicitation process by early January.
“We engaged in an open and transparent process to develop this RFP from the start and met our goal of completing it by the end of the year, “Â FirstNet Vice Chair Jeff Johnson said Wednesday.
The RFP will outline objectives and requirements for the development of a wireless communications system for emergency responders across the U.S., the agency noted.
FirstNet’s board consists of the Homeland Security Secretary, U.S. Attorney General and the Office of Management and Budget Director as well as 12 government, public safety and wireless industry professionals.
