acquisitionTrend Micro International has acquired Hewlett-Packard’s TippingPoint business for nearly $300 million in a move to help customers address sophisticated attacks.

The acquisition deal covers TippingPoint’s security technology, intellectual property, Digital Vaccine LABS threat insight and its enterprise customer base, Trend Micro said Wednesday.

Trend Micro will combine the intrusion prevention and breach detection services arising from the TippingPoint buy into a new network defense business unit.
