Orbital ATK Lands $426M Navy Fuze Testing Contract; Pat Nolan Comments


Orbital ATKOrbital ATK (NYSE: OA) has been awarded a $426 million contract to start production and testing work on fuzes and fuze accessories for the U.S. Navy.

Orbital ATK will work with its Plymouth, Minnesota-based design team to produce the fuzes at the company’s Allegany ballistics laboratory facility in Rocket Center, West Virginia, Orbital ATK said Wednesday.

Production is scheduled to complete in May 2024.

“Orbital ATK’s FMU-139D/B will be the cornerstone of the military’s general purpose bomb fuze for the foreseeable future, ” said Pat Nolan, vice president and general manager for Orbital ATK’s missile products.

FMU-139D/B fuzes are designed to destroy hard and buried targets.
