Kevin Mickey Appointed Northrop Aerospace Advanced Design VP; Chris Hernandez Comments

Kevin Mickey, formerly president of Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) subsidiary Scaled Composites, has been named vice president of advanced design in the company’s aerospace systems sector.

Mickey will oversee the sector’s aircraft design activities in his new role that he will start Nov. 2, Northrop said Thursday.

“He will be a great leader for this team, as we tackle some of our nation’s toughest problems, ” said Chris Hernandez, sector vice president of research, technology and advanced design at Northrop.

The 25-year Scaled Composites veteran held various roles at the aerospace and composite development company such as VP, chief financial officer and general manager.

Mickey was involved in the development of manned flight vehicles such as the Space Ship One and Two, White Knight One and Two, and Proteus and Firebird.

He served on project management and leadership positions at Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) Skunk Works prior to joining Scaled Composites.
