Richard Spires, formerly CEO of software firm Resilient Network Systems, has joined IT training provider Learning Tree International as CEO.
Learning Tree said Wednesday Spires will succeed David Collins, who has left the executive position but will remain with the company as chairman of the board and management adviser.
“I am pleased that Richard will be leading and inspiring the company as Learning Tree continues to enhance its training services to IT professionals worldwide, ” said Collins.
Spires has served as an independent member of the board of directors at Learning Tree since 2013.
He is also a former chief information officer of the Department of Homeland Security and Internal Revenue Service, vice chairman of the Federal Government CIO Council and co-chairman of the Committee for National Security Systems.
Spires worked at Mantas and SRA International before he joined government.
He is a recipient of several awards for IT leadership.
