DRS Technologies will provide an integrated night-vision goggle and thermal weapon sight system to the U.S. Army under a potential $367 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
The company said Friday the Army awarded the contract to support the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle III and Family of Weapon Sights – Individual programs.
According to DRS, the integrated technology works to help ground troups gain situational awareness, mobility, lethality and survivability.
Shawn Black, vice president and general manager of infrared sensors and systems at DRS, said the technology aims to help troops quickly engage targets in the battlefield amid degraded conditions.
The technology consists of a weapon-mounted thermal sight connected to night-vision goggles via a wireless system to support the transmission of images.
