DigitalGlobe Lends Data Tech to Small Islands Global Initiative Vs. Climate Change

DigitalGlobeTYSONS CORNER, VA September 30, 2015 — DigitalGlobe (NYSE: DGI) has announced the creation of Blue Guardians, a public-private partnership of data providers, conservation NGOs and development organizations committed to help small island developing states counter the effects of climate change, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

The establishment of the international consortium is a commitment to action at the recently concluded 2015 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting in New York City, DigitalGlobe said Monday.

According to Taner Kodanaz, director of DigitalGlobe’s Seeing a Better World program, low-lying countries can use DigitalGlobe data such as satellite imagery and geospatial analytics in resource allocation and management.

“Outcome-based partnerships like Blue Guardians can benefit SIDS by laying a data, policy, and management foundation that enables a global process for climate smart planning, adaptation and mitigation, ” he added.
