The company said Wednesday Battelle National Biodefense Institute originally received a contract to manage and operate the DHS lab in 2006.
“This was a first-of-its-kind endeavor when we started back in 2006 and we look forward to the second chapter of this important mission, ” said Ron Townsend, executive vice president of Battelle’s global laboratory operations.
Battelle noted that the new agreement consists of five one-year deals, each with a one-year extension option.
NBACC is located at Fort Detrick in Maryland.
