BAE to Produce More Lightweight Body Armor for Army


Bae systems logo_ExecutiveBizTYSONS CORNER, VA September 25, 2015 — BAE Systems will continue to supply protective vests for the U.S. Army after being handed a $45 million contract modification under the Soldier Protection System Vital Torso Protection program designed to make ever lighter body armor for the warfighter, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.

BAE said the new order is for 90, 000 plates – XSAPI torso and XSBI and ESBI side plate variants – and will come from the company’s soldier protection equipment plant in Arizona.
