NAVSEA Starts Federal Data Breach Response Service Solicitation

CyberStockThe U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command has started to accept bids on a contract for data breach response services to address the cyber attack on the Office of Personnel Management‘s background investigations database, Nextgov reported Wednesday.

Aliya Sternstein writes NAVSEA seeks a vendor to develop a website for notifying the approximately 21.5 million people affected by the OPM hack.

Contract work also covers security inspections support work at facilities where the U.S. government collects and stores protected information, according to Nextgov.

Sternstein said the federal government expects the selected contractor to deliver the bulk of data breach notifications within a few weeks of task order issuance.

The contract includes a provision for the vendor to allow authorities to access its database systems.
