“By allowing 18F to contract with companies that work in an agile, user-centered fashion, GSA will be able to continue transforming the way government buys digital services and better respond to the needs of customer agencies, ” said Denise Turner Roth, GSA administrator.

Chris Cairns,  Dave Zvenyach and Kathryn Edelman of the 18F Consulting team also outlined their experiences throughout the Agile BPA award process.

They pointed to the team’s observations of the interaction between vendors on social media and their collaboration to create code repositories on GitHub as well as 18F’s partnership with the Federal Acquisition Service to move the process forward.

Lessons learned include ways to structure the vendor question-and-answer activity, the automation of some parts of the technical evaluation, and the need to continue dialogue between 18F and the vendor community to discuss further developments in the acquisition process.
