State Dept OKs $335M Aircraft IR Countermeasure Sale to UAE


State DepartmentThe State Department has approved a potential $335 million foreign military sale of AN/AAQ 24(V) directional infrared countermeasure systems for the United Arab Emirates’ head of state aircraft.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday that UAE ordered four airborne DIRCMs and a total of 60 small laser transmitter assemblies, system processors and missile approach warning system sensors.

Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) will be the primary contractors for the sale.

The deal also covers equipment, spare and repair parts, technical documentation, installation, flight testing and certification, personnel training, logistics, engineering and technical support services.

The DIRCM system is designed to protect aircraft from missile threats.
