TYSONS CORNER, VA July 17, 2015 — Rick Ambrose, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE: LMT) space systems unit, said the company is looking to further strengthen its commercial satellite portfolio with a view of making three commercial deals a year, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

Via Satellite said Ambrose indicated in an interview that contracts with commercial clients such as Arabsat pointed to Lockheed’s strategy to find a balance between its government and commercial programs.

“Our focus has been on the next space age, which is happening now. You see the excitement of the Internet companies coming online, government wanting to do more commercial. You see commercial companies wanting to reach the un-connected, ”

“So, it is hard to differentiate between government and commercial systems. There is a lot of convergence.”
