CenturyLink Taps Vormetric Data At Rest Security Tech

security-lock-chipTYSONS CORNER, VA July 13, 2015 — CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) partners with independent software vendors such as Vormetric to offer services beyond securing client account, network and physical assets to include encryption of both data at rest and data in transit, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

Steve White, director of security and compliance at CenturyLink, said the company uses a shared responsibility model designed to draw out active participation from the customer’s side.

“At the end of the day, attackers are going after data, ” White wrote in a blog post published Wednesday.

“To provide the best chance at maintaining control over that data, companies need to take ownership of the data security cycle from start to finish, so that ultimately, when attackers target you, your sensitive data remains yours.”
