The Defense Logistics Agency has awarded McKesson Corp. (NYSE: MCK) a potential $6.1 billion contract modification to replenish prescription drug supplies for the Defense Department‘s Tricare pharmacy program.
This award exercises the first of three 30-month options under a firm-fixed-price contract for the company to provide pharmaceutical distribution services to the U.S. military, DoD said Thursday.
McKesson will perform the work in Arizona and California through Dec. 16, 2017.
DoD’s Tricare system provides medicines to almost 10 million active-duty service members, veterans and their families.
