Mark Von Schwarz, formerly president of the ISR and aircraft systems sector and mission integration division at L-3 Communications’ (NYSE: LLL) aerospace systems segment, has been named president of the segment.

L-3 said Wednesday that Von Schwarz, who also assumes a senior vice president role at the company, will succeed John McNellis and report to Michael Strianese, L-3’s chairman, president and CEO.

“His extensive industry and operational experience will be instrumental in executing our strategy of focusing on increasing market share and core margins across the segment while continuing to deliver solutions to our global customer base, ” said McNellis.

Von Schwarz is a former president of ComCept Inc., L-3’s engineering research and development division that focuses on networking and electronic attack.

He became chief of operations at ComCept in 2001 and president in 2003 after his role as VP of engineering for Raytheon’s (NYSE: RTN) aircraft integrated systems business.

Bruce Trego, formerly interim president of L-3’s aircraft systems sector, will succeed Von Schwarz as ISR systems lead.

Jim Gibson, most recently VP of international programs for mission integration, will take over the aircraft systems sector from Von Schwarz.
