TYSONS CORNER, VA June 16, 2015 — Executive Mosaic — United Launch Alliance wants the government to permit the Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and Boeing (NYSE: BA) joint venture to continue using Russian assets to launch its satellites into space, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.

Rick Ambrose, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin’s space systems segment, told Reuters in an interview that a waiver would let ULA sidestep the federal ban while it finishes construction of the Vulcan rocket, a homegrown launch system.

“We need to make sure that we can close the business case, ” Ambrose, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2015, was quoted as saying.

“You don’t know what’s going to happen with U.S. policy, as well as the market shifts, ” he added.
