lockheed martinTYSONS CORNER, VA June 5, 2015 — ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday on Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) securing a $78 million contract to develop a Chinook Mk6 training system for the British air force.

Work on the project to span 12 years includes training center design and simulator and virtual reality technology deployment at the Royal Air Force Odiham base in Hampshire, England, home to RAF’s heavy lift helicopter fleet, Lockheed said Tuesday.

“Our experience of providing flight training capabilities to the [U.K. Ministry of Defense] translated to a strong understanding of the program’s requirements, ” said Jim Weitzel, training solutions vice president for Lockheed Martin’s training and logistics solutions business.

“We look forward to delivering a system that will help support the important role of the RAF’s Chinook fleet and to continuing to support flying training across the U.K. military.”
