TYSONS CORNER, VA June 18, 2015 — Executive Mosaic — Gene Colabatistto, CAE group president for defense and security, has indicated that the benefits of simulation training could be seen not just in the technical capabilities the trainee acquires from the practice but also in reduced equipment procurement and operation, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.

He told Aviation Week in a piece published this week that one-fourth of an organization’s assets are usually tied to training drills.

“That’s aircraft, experienced pilots, mechanics, ” said Colabatistto, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2015.

“So if I can do training in a more efficient way – such as by using simulation – the savings are immense.”

Colabatistto mentioned live training as equally important, especially for certifications, as the courseware used in synthetic training, a curriculum he said that is shaped by policymakers and standard-setting bodies in collaboration with industry.
