CAE‘s U.S. arm will provide initial and recurrent pilot training services to the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force under a potential eight-year, $200 million contract from the Army.
The company said Thursday it will train at least 600 fixed-wing pilots per year through the end of September 2023 at CAE’s future training center at Dothan Regional Airport in Alabama.
“We are honoured and proud that the U.S. Army has selected CAE as its training systems integration partner of choice for fixed-wing training, ” said Gene Colabatistto, group president of CAE’s defense and security business.
He said company will provide a combination of live, virtual and constructive training systems.
According to CAE, the training program is for Air Force pilots that transition from flying rotary-wing aircraft and entry-level fixed-wing pilots in the Army.
The program also covers the Army C-12/RC-12 King Air recurrent training and Air Force C-12 King Air annual training.
Ray Duquette, president and general manager of CAE USA,  added that the company will offer scenario-based training, including upset recovery and the Flightscape brief/debrief systems.
CAE said it will begin construction at the Alabama site, which is near the Army’s Aviation Center of Excellence.
The facility will be equipped with the company’s Simfinity C-12 integrated procedures trainers and 7000XR Series C-12 full-flight simulators with a roll-on/roll-off cockpit design, as well as Grob G 120TP aircraft, flight training devices and courseware.
