Northrop Launches AESA Radar for USAF Bomber


northrop Grumman_BLUETYSONS CORNER, VA May 11, 2015 — Executive Mosaic — ExecutiveBiz reported Friday on Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) unveiling the Scalable Agile Beam Radar – Global Strike active electronically scanned array radar for the U.S. Air Force’s B-1B Lancer fleet.

Northrop said Wednesday SABR-GS, developed under a 2011 contract to update the bomber’s radar systems, has completed flight demonstrations and will now transition to the manufacturing and development phase.

The AESA radar’s technology is based on the SABR on the F-35, F-22 and F-16 aircraft, with updates focused on refining target area detail, digital maps and sensor integration.
