DigitalGlobe Retires Lockheed-Built IKONOS Imaging Satellite


IKONOSTYSONS CORNER, VA May 20, 2015 — DigitalGlobe (NYSE: DGI) has retired the Lockheed Martin-built (NYSE: LMT) IKONOS imaging satellite after 15 years of on-orbit service, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

Lockheed said Thursday IKONOS, launched in September 1999 at the Vandenberg Air Force Base, took thousands of high-resolution earth imagery throughout its lifecycle for national security, disaster relief and first responder missions, and agriculture.
