Marcin Goettig cites a report from Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper that says Polish government and defense leaders are scheduled to hold a press conference Tuesday to discuss Poland’s military fleet modernization program.
Raytheon competed against a Thales–MBDA team for the contract, which has a total estimated value of $5 billion, according to Goettig.
The Polish newspaper also noted Airbus as the current frontrunner in a competition to provide as many as 70 multipurpose helicopters to Poland, according to Reuters.
Airbus proposed its Caracal EC725 helicopter platform for the program.
