Motorola Solutions Buys PublicEngines for Intelligence-Led Policing; Bob Schassler Comments

acquisitionMotorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) has further added to its public safety portfolio with the acquisition of PublicEngines, a Utah-based provider of citizen engagement and public safety products for government and law enforcement agencies.

“The acquisition of PublicEngines reinforces Motorola Solutions’ commitment to helping our customers implement intelligence-led strategies that deter crime and improve outcomes, ” Bob Schassler, Motorola Solutions executive vice president for solutions and services,  said Wednesday.

PublicEngines’ cloud-based offerings include CommandCentral Analytics,  CommandCentral Predictive, CrimeReports and TipSoft, which provide data visualization, predictive policing, crime mapping and tip management functions, respectively.

Motorola said the addition of PublicEngines’ products to its portfolio works to bolster situational awareness and citizen interaction in public safety programs.

This transaction follows Motorola’s February acquisition of Emergency CallWorks, a maker of public emergency communications software.
