General Dynamics Gets $610M to Construct DDG 122 Destroyer


general dynamics logoGeneral Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) Bath Iron Works subsidiary has been awarded $610.4 million in funds to construct DDG 122, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer the business will build under a five-ship, $3.4 billion order the U.S. Navy originally placed two years ago.

“This announcement allows us to continue efforts associated with planning and construction of DDG 122, ” Fred Harris, president of Bath Iron Works,  said Wednesday.

General Dynamics said it has started fabrication for DDG 118, the first of the five ships commissioned in 2013.

Arleigh Burke-class vessels are equipped with stealth technology and Aegis combat tools.
