acquisitionNTT Communications (NYSE: NTT) is set to acquire a majority stake totaling 86.7 percent of shares in German data center service operator e-shelter from private equity investment company ABRY Partners.

NTT Com said Monday through the move the company intends to boost its market presence in the region and bolster its capability to meet growing demand for data center, cloud and system migration services.

He noted NTT Com’s presence in Asia as a potential vehicle for the expansion of e-shelter’s services even as NTT Com President and CEO Akira Arima eyes the European market.

“Globally, NTT Com supports many of the world’s best-known corporations with top-quality services from data centers located in global economic centers, ” Arima said.

“We will continue to invest in data centers to help our clients secure their data.”

E-shelter operates six data centers across Germany, Switzerland and Austria, which will add to NTT Com’s current sites in the U.K.,  Germany,  France and Spain, NTT Com said.

Investa Holding, which currently owns 51 percent of e-shelter shares,  will hold minority stake following the sale.
