L-3 to Produce Night-Vision Binoculars for Navy, Marine Corps

L-3 logoAn L-3 Communications subsidiary has won a $49.5 million contract to provide nighttime surveillance goggles to the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps, Military & Aerospace Electronics reported Thursday.

John Keller writes L-3 Warrior Systems will manufacture an undisclosed number of AN/PVS-31 Binocular Night Vision Devices in Londonderry, New Hampshire, through January 2020.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center intends for the company’s BNVDs to help military users recognize potential threats in low light and no light operations.

AN/PVS-31 goggles are designed to have a rotating binocular design, an adjustable focus, replaceable image intensifier tubes and a helmet mount.
