Turkey to Order Lockheed-Built F-35s, Boeing Chinook Helicopters


F-35Turkey plans to purchase additional four Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT)-built F-35s through a foreign military sale agreement with the U.S. government, Daily Sabah reported Thursday.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Turkey also wants to procure 100 F-35 fighters through 2030 as part of efforts to modernize the Turkish air force.

The government has already placed an order for two F-35 fighters, Davutoglu added.

Daily Sabah reports Turkey is scheduled to deploy the aircraft in 2019.

The prime minister also announced the government’s bid to purchase five additional Boeing (NYSE: BA) CH-47F Chinook twin-engine helicopters, the report says.
