Karen Britton, formerly chief information officer at the White House, has joined e-Management as senior vice president and chief operating officer.

She will be responsible for the company’s initiative to expand its business into the Defense Department, federal civilian agencies and intelligence agencies, and develop commercial corporate relationships, e-Management said Tuesday.

“She has a unique ability to assess and understand the strengths of individuals and inspire them to work as a team, improving productivity, employee morale, and customer satisfaction, ” said Bambo Bamgbose, e-Management president and chief financial officer.

The 25-year strategic consultant most recently served as CIO of the Executive Office of the President and as special assistant to President Barack Obama.

Britton oversaw the EOP’s cloud computing strategy, agile software development programs and open-source initiatives.

She was deputy CIO at the EOP prior to her CIO role.
