Thales, MBDA Partner With Polish Firm on Bid for Poland’s Missile Defense System

MissileDefenseThales and MBDA have partnered with Poland’s Wojskowe Zaklady Uzbrojenia to offer the Aster 30 Block 1 missile in a joint bid for the Polish government’s Wisla contract, Defense News reported Tuesday.

Pierre Tran writes that Thales and MBDA have submitted letters of intent for cooperation with WZU to bolster the local industry’s autonomy in producing and supporting Poland’s future missile defense system.

As part of their bid, WZU will manage final assembly of the Aster 30 launcher and work with other Polish companies to build equipment, provide training and design missile reloaders, the report said.

The three companies also established a long-term partnership to provide logistics support, where WZU will be responsible for subsystem repairs and system-level support.

Tran reports that MBDA signed a separate LOI with Zaklady Mechaniczne Tarnow on the supply of equipment for missile transit and storage.
