SpaceX to Help NASA Launch Exoplanet Survey Satellite


space-engineeringSpace Exploration Technologies Corp. has been selected to supply services for NASA’s nearly $87 million satellite launch mission set to take place in Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.

The Transiting Exoplanet Survey satellite is scheduled for liftoff in August 2017 on board a Falcon 9 v1.1 launch vehicle, NASA said Tuesday.

The three-year mission aims to detect a sample of exoplanets in the solar system by obtaining samples of stars.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology leads the TESS mission and the Explorers Program at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center oversees the program.
